My Blue Light Career
“Hi I’m Matt, founder of Blue Light Mortgages.
I started Blue Light Mortgages in 2022 as a way of bringing together my past and present careers. Here’s a little breakdown of my previous career and what’s brought me here.
I joined Thames Valley Police in 2006, working uniform roles for 4 years before progressing into the priority crime team dealing with prolific offenders committing robberies, burglaries and auto crime across the South Oxfordshire area.
I later qualified as a detective, joining a specialist department in Newbury.
Wanting to return to my roots I transferred to South Wales Police in 2014 as part of the Cardiff CID team.
In 2017 I moved into my final role within the Police services as part of the serious collision investigation unit."
A New Way To Help
"Throughout my career in the police I was honored to receive multiple awards and commendations. My favorite part of working as a police officer was always the opportunities to help people through difficult circumstances. I am proud to have had this work acknowledged in 2016 by winning the South Wales Police ‘Exceptional Service to People Award’.
After 17 years, I decided to bring my varied and successful time in the service to a close, looking for a new challenge that would allow me to continue helping people while spending more time with my family.
I completed my CeMAP financial qualifications in 2021, joining Mortgage Sure Ltd as a self employed advisor shortly afterwards.
With multiple ex-colleagues becoming clients, creating Blue Light Mortgages was the obvious next step for me. Providing a way to combine my experience, understanding and insight of the world of emergency services with my new career in the mortgage and protection industry."
